Popular Questions

How much does it cost to hire an electrician in Calgary?

Electrician pricing in Calgary depends on the type of work, the complexity, and whether permits or inspections are required. Many contractors charge $100–$150/hour, while others provide flat-rate pricing depending on the task.

Crew Electrical Services focuses on clear, upfront pricing. For most jobs, you’ll receive a price before work begins, so you’re not stuck watching a clock (or panicking at a surprise invoice). As general ballparks: a basic service call often runs $200–$300, installing common items like outlets/switches/light fixtures can range $150–$400 per item, and typical home repairs may fall around $250–$700 depending on what’s involved. Larger work like a panel upgrade is commonly $3,000–$5,500 based on scope and site conditions.

For more involved projects, the best next step is an on-site assessment or using the Price Guide Estimator.

Do you provide upfront pricing or estimates before work starts?

Yes. Crew Electrical Services provides upfront flat-rate pricing before any work begins. That means you’ll understand the scope, the price, and what’s included (labour, materials, warranty) before anyone starts tearing into walls or replacing parts. Get an Online Estimate here.

Do you charge a call-out or diagnostic fee?

Yes. Crew Electrical Services charges a $75 diagnostic fee. This covers travel to your location, diagnosing the issue, and providing an upfront price for the recommended work.

If you proceed with the repair/service, the diagnostic fee is waived and applied toward the work completed. If there are multiple possible solutions (for example, a simple repair vs. a longer-term upgrade), your electrician should walk you through the options so you can choose what makes sense for your budget and timeline.

Are your electricians licensed and insured in Alberta?

Yes. All electricians at Crew Electrical Services are licensed Red Seal Journeyman electricians, and the team includes a Master Electrician. Crew Electrical Services also carries $5 million in liability insurance.

Is your electrical work covered by a warranty?

Yes. Crew Electrical Services provides a 1-year labour warranty on installations in Calgary. Equipment warranties vary by manufacturer and commonly range from 2–10 years depending on the product.

Will I need a permit for this electrical work?

Permits help ensure the work meets safety and is code compliant and is inspected properly. The good news is, Crew Electrical Services takes care of the permit process for you. Whether it’s Calgary or the surrounding area, we make sure everything is completed to code. If a permit is needed, we will let you know There are instances where a permit is not needed. If its a repair or a replacement of identical equipment, a permit may not be needed.

Do you handle permits and inspections for me?

What payment methods do you accept?

Crew Electrical Services accepts major payment methods, including credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, Amex), e-transfer, and cash.

Can electrical work be financed or paid by credit card?

Yes. Crew Electrical Services accepts all major credit cards, and payment can be collected on-site.

Crew Electrical Services also offers financing through Financit, a third-party Canadian financing provider for home improvement/service projects. Eligible customers can apply through Financit’s application process and, if approved, spread project costs into monthly payments instead of paying everything upfront.

How quickly can I book an electrician in Calgary?

For urgent electrical issues, Crew Electrical Services can often provide same-day service, subject to availability and location. For non-urgent repairs and project work, bookings are scheduled as soon as possible based on scope, access, and technician availability.

What should I expect during my electrical appointment?

A licensed electrician from Crew Electrical Services arrives at the scheduled time, reviews the issue or project, and confirms scope and pricing before work begins. If the work can be completed the same day, it typically will be. If coordination is required (for example, panel replacement requiring utility coordination and inspection scheduling), the next steps will be explained and scheduled clearly.
